Intended Use; It is obligatory to leave joints at some points of concrete and reinforced concrete structures. The joints left in some parts are defined as expansion joints in order to prevent damages that may arise in the structure due to expansion and collapse in reinforced concrete structural elements. When the cement used in the building completes its setting, an expansion joint should be left in order to prevent the deformation that may occur due to the decrease in volume from damaging the structure. As it is known, the expansion and creep movements in the structures are too large to be neglected and are constantly repeated movements. In addition, there is a downward movement, namely collapse, due to the movements or compression of the ground under the structure. On the other hand, the joints where the concrete pouring is stopped for a while and then left where it is restarted and arranged vertically in the direction of the compressive stresses are defined as construction joints. The joints arranged in the structure show contraction due to thermal expansions or ground movements. These types of joints are described as contraction joints.
